Scholarships and Financial Aid

Hear Indiana does not provide funds for the purchase of hearing aids. Click here for other support agencies.

Scholarships are now available for students, professionals (deaf educators, SLPs, or audiologists), and parents.

Application for students or professionals taking courses or attending workshops in aural rehabilitation, oral deaf education, or auditory verbal/oral therapy. There is no deadline for this application. Applications must be received 45 days prior to the activity/conference for which you are requesting support. You will be notified within 30 days of receipt.

Scholarship and financial aid funds can be used for the following programs/conferences:

the AG Bell Listening and Spoken Language Symposium
Distance learning through First Years
Summer Auditory Verbal Institute at UNC-Chapel Hill
Distance learning: Professional Prep. in CIs through CHOP
John Tracy Clinic- distance learning
The Cochlear Implant Certificate Program (via Ball State and St. Joseph Institute for the Deaf)
Graduate work in listening and spoken language
Other programs/workshops may be considered on an individual case by case basis.

More Financial Aid Info for parents: Indiana’s Family Involvement Fund (FIF) provides financial assistance for family members of children with disabilities ages birth-21 to further their knowledge and understanding of their child’s disability and/or the programs and services that support their child. The financial assistance may be provided for attending conferences, workshops, public forums or hearings, task force meetings and similar events as well as online trainings and teleconferences. Additionally, the FIF may provide financial assistance for the purchase of print and electronic media materials.

The Family Involvement Fund is not a Hear Indiana program, but this funding can be used to attend conferences, such as Hear Indiana's Annual Conference on Listening and Spoken Language (Oct. 29, 2010).
